
A major part of our business is helping agencies win major presentations. Any advantage
that can help them win, I want to use.
For my birthday several years ago, my daughter bought me a Tabasco tie because, she
said, I give agencies "hot and spicy advice." The tie reminded her of me. I liked the tie and
wore it the next day on an engagement to help an agency win a significant piece of business.
The work we did that day was on target, and the agency won the account going away.
In the mail the next day, the agency president sent me several Tabasco ties as a memento of
the win. I wore one of the ties on the next engagement at a different agency, and we won
again.
I told the agency owner he owed me a Tabasco tie in celebration.
I tried it again on my next agency review assignment, and we won again. And again on
another assignment and we won. And again and we won. With a streak like that building up,
you don't change anything. I figure the ties must be magic.
I wear them all the time and win most of the time. And until I see a big change, I'm not going
to stop wearing Tabasco ties. I thought Tabasco would run out of ties before I ran out of
wins but so far they are keeping up with me.
I have a wall of them and love each one for the victory it means and the joy it meant to an
agency. And now a Tabasco tie for the win is part of every engagement I take on.
